"Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.' " Matthew 22:37-39
Christian whore/krisCHən hôr / noun:
A Christian that has become unfaithful to God.
A Christian that forgets Jesus Christ's words to "love God with all your heart, soul, and strength".
In 2018, I published "Goodbye, Christian Whore: Seeking a Heart for One Love". The title was, and still is, harsh and not really market friendly. Sometimes, I'm just not ok with it and that's what I like most about it- that it makes me uncomfortable. When you hear the words "Christian" and "whore" in the same sentence it should give you a bitter taste in your mouth. But the same should be said in our lives. When a husband/wife tells everyone publicly that they are committed to their spouse and then displays actions that dilute or taint their commitment we call it 'unfaithfulness' when we're feeling politically correct, or 'whoring around' when we're just feeling bluntly honest. Becoming a Christian is simple, so simple in fact that many people wander off from that simplicity and begin complicating it. Once it is complicated it begins to look messy and confusing to those outside the faith, well for that matter, it will start looking messy and confusing to those inside the faith as well. It's time to make it simple once more, to remember what it is really all about- loving God and living for Him. Goodbye, Christian Whore is not simply a book to be shelved. It is a lifestyle declaration: God, I want you only! I'm not always good at wanting You, in fact I probably trip way too much along the way but help me to continuously pursue You and only You.
"God does not love when you whore around, Seeking Him where He can’t be found Stop your games wake up and see, God wants your heart, He says Love Me!" - from the poem "Death of a Christian Whore" featured in "Goodbye, Christian Whore" a book by Nicole Donoho
